The Turan CUP 2 International Tug-of-War Championship, held with great enthusiasm and international excitement on the Taşucu coast of Mersin between May 1-3, 2026, with the participation of 14 countries, attracted attention not only with its sporting achievements but also with its strong collaborations and support. To express gratitude for his contributions and support throughout the organization of the championship, a plaque was presented to Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Gümüş by Eray Aldemir, President of the Turkish Tug-of-War Federation.
Speaking at the plaque ceremony, President Eray Aldemir stated that university-sports federation collaborations are of great importance for the development of Turkish sports, and emphasized the value of academic support, especially in the development of young athletes. Aldemir thanked Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Gümüş for his close attention and contributions throughout the organization process.
The championship, further strengthened by the support of the Mersin University Faculty of Sports Sciences, once again demonstrated both Turkey's success in international sports organizations and the development of the sport of tug-of-war.
