The 2nd International Open Turan Cup Tug-of-War Tournament, hosted by the Turkish Tug-of-War Federation, supported by the European Tug-of-War Federation, and sponsored by MEDCEM, was successfully completed in Mersin between May 1-3, 2026. Teams from 14 different countries – Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Northern Cyprus, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Yemen, the East African Community, and Lebanon – participated in the tournament. Athletes, coaches, and referees contributed significantly to the event with their high performance, team spirit, and sportsmanlike conduct. The tournament stood out not only for its high level of sporting competition but also for strengthening friendship, solidarity, and cultural interaction between participating countries. The teams that placed in their respective categories at the end of the competitions are as follows:
480 kg Men: 1. Russia, 2. Kazakhstan, 3. Kazakhstan
540 kg Men: 1. Kazakhstan, 2. Kazakhstan, 3. Kazakhstan
U23 Men 450 kg: 1. Kazakhstan, 2. Turkey, 3. Syria
U23 Mixed 420 kg: 1. Azerbaijan, 2. Turkey, 3. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
Senior Mixed 450 kg: 1. Azerbaijan, 2. MEDCEM, 3. Turkey
